FOUR YEARS OF "BACHELORS"HOOD

All good things must come to an end, they say.
For us final years’, knowing that college life has ended, so to say is one thing but bracing ourselves to face the fact is another. Its is still better than those good things which come to an end without prior warning.

Four years of engineering, four years of wanting to do something that is forbidden, four years of learning, four years of "internals"(we seem to have them all the time!), four years of complaining about lecturers, four years of last minute preparations, four years of one-upmanship, four years of realizing and discovering, four years of getting to know new people, four years of learning new things about the same people, four years of discovering yourself, four years WELL SPENT. Each comes out enriched with a whole lot of experiences, a whole lot to cherish. Engineering teaches one things that one knew he will learn and a whole gamut of other things which he never thought he would.

As I sit reminiscing the last four years, I vividly remember the very first day in college, we started with a class in chemistry. Come to think of it and we find ourselves juggling classes and project work in this final semester. Time certainly does fly.

I have always believed that one realizes the value of something only when he doesn’t have it. I am sure it’ll take till we actually miss college and college life to realize how invaluable it was. Smart replies to teachers in class, chatting with friends after college hours, passing comments and stealing a giggle, pleading for let-offs (always unsuccessfully though!)…we are going to miss each one of these little things.

Every single person we have interacted with in this college has his or her own contribution, big or small, in making these four years what they have been. We owe a lot to many people : lecturers, those who taught us and those who dint alike; attenders; non-teaching staff and lots of others. A heartfelt thanks to each one of them.
Two people require a special mention here.
Firstly, Prof. T. J. Rama Murthy sir who, I am sure every one would agree, is very always encouraging, accommodative, understanding and warm apart from being the one of the most approachable people here.
Secondly, Prof. S. L. Satheesh Kumar sir who never settles for nothing but the best and always urges us to perform to our potential. His unique way of motivating by way of implanting fear in us never seems to fail!

Where does one go from here? “The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step ”. We are each ready to step into the big, bad, real world. Novices in dealing with the world and its ways, lots of challenges and opportunities stand forth but most of us are oblivious to it. Life is full of surprises, some sweet and some not so sweet. In this matter the only certainty is that nothing is certain.

In a couple of months, our bid to put ourselves and what we have learnt so far to the best possible use will begin, I wish all my friends the very best in all their endeavors. I wish everyone success and health. I am sure each one of us will pass the acid-test called life with flying colours. I look forward to bumping into friends some place we’d least expect, it’s a small world after all. Lets all wait and watch what the future has in store for us.

Yet another good thing coming to an end, this write-up!!
‘Citius, altius, fortius’ my friends.
Cheers!
